Wik Castle a cold and clear winter day. Wik Castle is situated in Uppsala municipality and Balingsta district in Uppsala County. The castle was constructed in the 15th century, in the manner of a large tower house. The castle's principal building materials were stone and brick. Wik Castle is situated at the shore of Lårstaviken in Lake Malar. Lake Malar is the third-largest freshwater lake in Sweden.
Wik Castle was the birthplace of Svante Arrhenius, winner of the 1903 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
